Building a North Wales Rangers team for the 2019 WTA Nationals
We would like to build a team to enter the Wales Touch Association Nationals competition in 2019. We have struggled to raise a team since our last entry in 2016, despite it being a really fun tournament enjoyed by all who entered. Ideally we would like representation from across the whole region, and if possible, to enter more than one team (i.e. a team in two or more of the categories: men's, women's and mixed).

We will be starting from quite a low level. While we currently have players who have played in the tournament before, and even one or two who have played at higher levels, we also have players who are very new to the game. We will therefore be spending the whole of the next year developing the team to build to a level where we will be competitive in the tournament.

Open Training Session
We plan to run at least one open training session to draw in players from across the region. No prior experience of playing touch is necessary. The session will involve several basic touch drills and some games and will run sometime before the end of August 2018, but the date is yet to be confirmed.
Weekly Training Sessions
For players who wish to represent North Wales, we will run weekly training sessions on Sundays, 2pm-4pm. These sessions will involve more touch drills, skills training, touch-related fitness training and training games.

Sessions will initially take place in Wrexham, however, if the interest is there from other regions of North Wales, we are happy to travel to other locations to train as requested.
Friendly Games
Once the team has reached a level where everyone understands the game well enough, we can arrange some local friendly games. We have friends at local teams over the border in England who will be happy to play some games to test our skills.

We anticipate these games to take place over the winter period of late 2018/early 2019 as this will be the "off-season" for touch.
Wales Touch Series 2019
After several friendly games and a lot more training over the winter, we hope to enter the Wales Touch Series as a North Wales team in the spring/summer of 2019. The Wales Touch Series is a set of four tournaments that take place over several weekends throughout the summer months, and will allow you to test yourself against the best teams that Wales has to offer. Wales Touch Nationals 2019
The ultimate goal will be for North Wales Rangers to once again represent the region at the annual tournament, which typically takes place in Swansea over a weekend in September. There are six regions in Wales, and each will consist of the best players in their area. It is a tough competition, usually five games of 40 minutes over the two days, but is always great fun and a brilliant atmosphere. It is the main proving ground for the selectors for the national squads, so if you play well enough, you may even draw their attention...
